Tom Barratt Ltd. was selected as project & coordinating Landscape Architect for the Whistler Athlete Village.

The Athlete Village housed 2,800 athletes and officials during the Olympics. The 220 apartments, townhouses and condos in the project will be affordable housing for Whistler workers.

Features & Sustainability

- The Village is part of a pilot project with the Canada Green Building Council to test the new LEED Neighbourhood Development green standard.

- Installation of low energy LED bike trail lights; first use in North America.

- Focus on accessibility in all areas for Paralympic games

- The Village includes the development of a community/district energy system based on waste heat recovered from the municipal waste water treatment system.

- A storm water management system and wetland complex has been created on site for storm water retention, treatment and habitat enhancement.
